Program Associate - Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation (NPCF)
Summer Position (Non-union/Student)
Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation (NPCF) is a registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are dedicated to raising funds that aid in the conservation of our natural environment for present and future generations.
NPCF’s current priorities include: Ecological Restoration to preserve the precious biodiversity of the unique ecosystems in our watershed; a Land Securement Strategy to ensure communities have sustainable access to protected conservation lands, parks and natural areas; Parks & Green Infrastructure to ensure inter-regional trails are accessible and safe for all; Education and Stewardship to promote the benefits of a relationship between people and nature and Investing in a Healthy Watershed and Health Communities.
NPCF was founded in 1969 at the request of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority board of directors, to help fund vital projects not covered by NPCA’s operational budget. NPCF is led by a separate volunteer board of directors and has one full-time staff member – all work alongside the dedicated staff of NPCA in protecting and enhancing the Niagara Peninsula watershed which encompasses the 12 municipalities of Niagara Region as well as parts of Hamilton and Haldimand County.

Summary of Duties
The Program Associate – NPCF will work with the Development and Investor Relations Officer and NPCA support staff to aid in day-to-day operational functions of the Foundation. This includes: supporting fundraising initiatives and assisting with donor communication, developing website and social media content, and administration of revenue-generating programs, while also promoting environmental stewardship within the watershed and fostering positive relationships with the public.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and candidates must be between the ages of 15-30 and eligible under this program: have Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or Refugee Protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; have a valid social insurance number; and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Associate – NPCF will assist with:
- Providing administrative support to the NPCF team including data management, donor communications
- Assisting with fundraising initiatives and Foundation events
- Assisting with general Foundation correspondence as well as social media content creation
- Assisting with strengthening relationships and increasing contributions through ongoing and new Foundation initiatives, communications and engagement opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations or a related program
- Interest in and experience in administrative duties
- Interest in and experience in fundraising initiatives
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability to efficiently use common computer software (MS Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Must be able to work safely in accordance with NPCA’s Health and Safety Policies
- Must possess a valid Ministry of Transportation Class “G” driver’s license
- Successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
Location: NPCA Main Office - 3350 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold, ON; with travel within the watershed
Salary: $18.00 - $18.50/hour up to 35 hours/week
