Park Manager, Ball’s Falls


Full Time Permanent – Non-Union

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

The Opportunity

The Park Manager of Ball’s Falls Conservation Area is responsible for overseeing all aspects of park operations, park facilities/buildings, and business development at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area. This role ensures the park offers an exceptional experience for all visitors of the conservation area that includes day use, educational programming, weddings, facility rentals, and special events including the Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival. This role plays a key role in business development, enhancing opportunities at Ball’s Falls as well as operations and maintenance of an environmentally sustainable facility.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of Ball’s Falls Conservation Area ensuring facilities and grounds are clean, safe and welcoming for visitors including maintenance and upkeep of the recreational areas and buildings.
  • Ensuring compliance and awareness of legislative policies and park regulations and enforcing park policies when required as a designated Provincial Offences Officer.
  • Providing oversight to the implementation of all facility rentals and event bookings at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area providing memorable visitor experiences.
  • Overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of green building structures and systems as well as contractual requirements for the Centre for Conservation, ensuring all systems are operating efficiently as a sustainable, environmentally designed facility.
  • Developing and administering Ball’s Falls Conservation Area operational budgets and responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Hiring, performance management coaching of seasonal staff as well as coordination of volunteers supporting Ball’s Falls activities and services such as bluebird box monitoring, trail inspection, gardening and heritage interpretation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local businesses, community groups and other stakeholders to support and enhance the conservation area’s offerings and operations.
  • Participating in the development of long-term strategies for Ball’s Falls Conservation Area including Master Plans, Management Plans and Business and Marketing Plans.
  • Supporting the planning, organizing and execution of the annual Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival.

What you Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Parks Administration, Business Administration, Tourism, Recreation and Leisure, Natural Resources Management or related
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in park maintenance, recreational programming and hospitality or tourism along with two (2) years supervisory experience (experience within a Conservation Area an asset)
  • Experience preparing and implementing comprehensive work programs and budgets, including risk management
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental impact of service operations and current sustainability concepts
  • Valid G class Driver’s License
  • Willing to accept appointment as a Provincial Offences Officer

Home Base Location: Ball’s Falls Conservation Area (3292 Sixth Ave, Lincoln) with travel within the watershed
