Niagara Region, in partnership with Brock University, the City of St. Catharines, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and Ontario Power Generation, will host the 20th annual Niagara Children’s Water Festival on April 25-27, 2023.
The Niagara Children’s Water Festival is a unique opportunity for grades three and four classes from across Niagara to engage in hands-on activities that educate students about the importance of our most valuable natural resource: water. The goal of the festival is to empower children to initiate behaviour change within their homes, schools and communities.
The three-day educational festival includes over 30 interactive and hands-on activity centres run by event partners as well as other local water, nature and conservation organizations. Each activity focuses on one or more key water messages: water conservation, water protection, water attitude, water science and water technology.
The festival is returning to in-person after moving online during the COVID pandemic and this will be the first year for it to be hosted at Brock. This year 2,195 students along with 600 parents, teachers and volunteers are expected to participate over the three days. The festival has hosted nearly 70,000 students since its inception in 2003.
