NPCA Improves Access to Waterfront with Mobi-Mat Installation at Chippawa Creek Conservation Area

As part of its ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community wellness, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is proud to announce the installation of a Mobi-Mat at Chippawa Creek Conservation Area.  This initiative is a direct reflection of NPCA’s bold vision to connect people with nature, enhance visitor experience, and ensure equitable access to the Niagara Peninsula watershed.

The Mobi-Mat is a portable, non-slip accessible pathway that will provide individuals with mobility concerns, families with strollers, and others improved access to the water’s edge.  By creating a more inclusive environment, NPCA is taking meaningful steps to reduce physical barriers and support the diverse needs of the community. NPCA is grateful for the support from the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation (NPCF) and the generous donation from Jungbunzlauer to purchase a Mobi-Mat.

NPCF continues to play an instrumental role in supporting NPCA mission to enhance community access to natural spaces.  NPCF continue to facilitate projects that improve infrastructure across NPCA properties by aligning broader goals of promoting environmental stewardship, enhancing visitor experiences, and fostering community wellness.

This conservation enhancement not only increases accessibility but also contributes to NPCA’s broader goal of enhancing visitor experience.  By investing in infrastructure that supports wellness and connectivity, NPCA continues to deliver on its commitment to create thriving natural spaces that serve both people and the planet.

QUOTES

“The Mobi-Mat is a great example of how the NPCA is working to improve the accessibility of our conservation areas, a key priority highlighted in our Strategic Plan. With the vision of "Nature for All", this installation has helped to ensure that folks who visit Chippawa Creek are able to visit and enjoy the beachfront. Research shows that access to nature and outdoor spaces positively contributes to health and wellbeing, and importantly, access to bluespaces, like our beachfronts and waterways, is highly therapeutic to people of all ages. Here at the NPCA, we are committed to providing sustainable, inclusive spaces for recreation that support community connection to nature.” – Alicia Powell, Manager Conservation Areas & Programs

“Strong partnerships are at the heart of everything we do at NPCF.  Thanks to the support of the NPCA and Jungbunzlauer, we’re making progress in restoring natural spaces, improving accessibility, and connecting people with nature which creates a lasting impact for the environment and Niagara Peninsula watershed communities.” – Sharon Pfeifer, Development & Investor Relations
