LINCOLN, Ont. (January 7, 2019)— The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) held its Special Meeting today, in compliance with the Order of Justice Ramsay, dated January 2nd, at its Ball’s Falls Centre for Conservation. The newly formed Board elected a new Chair, Mayor Dave Bylsma of West Lincoln, and a new Vice Chair Diana Huson, Regional Councilor for the Town of Pelham.
“I am proud of what the Board was able to accomplish at today’s meeting,” said NPCA Board Chair Bylsma. “There was a clear desire from all Members to gain insight and clarity to provide the basis for informed decision-making in the interest of transparency, integrity, and accountability to the residents of the Niagara Peninsula watershed.”
The Members met for four hours, the majority of which was spent in-camera discussing legal and human resources matters, the latter of which is a topic that must remain confidential as per the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990
“I remain fully in support of this Board as it undertakes the formal process of recruiting a new permanent CAO to the organization,” said Interim CAO David Barrick.
The next meeting for the Board is its Annual General Meeting, which will be held January 16th at 9:30 a.m. at Ball’s Falls Centre for Conservation. NPCA will continue to live steam all meetings at https://npca.ca/administration/board-meetings
