NPCA Celebrates Volunteers for their Dedication to Conservation and Community

As the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) reflects on the achievements of 2025, the organization extends heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals, groups, and organizations who have generously given their time and energy to support local conservation initiatives and programs.

From improving biodiversity by planting thousands of trees, to caring for conservation areas, sharing the watershed’s rich history, inspiring young minds at camps and educational events, and enriching the visitor experience at the historic Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival, volunteers have made an extraordinary impact across the watershed.

“The positive impacts of our volunteers’ efforts will last for generations to come,” said Leilani Lee-Yates, NPCA CAO. “Their dedication to conservation and the preservation of our shared natural and cultural heritage truly defines the spirit of community stewardship.”

The NPCA’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Night, held on November 4, brought together many of these outstanding individuals to celebrate their contributions and recognize their collective achievements throughout the year. The evening featured a lively and engaging Keynote presentation by Niagara resident, environmental activist and conservationist, and highly regarded birdwatcher, Marcie Jacklin. Marcie shared her stories as an avid volunteer and community steward and highlighted the incredible benefits of volunteerism to our local environment, community, and to our own health and wellbeing.

“Thank you for the time you’ve shared with us this year,” added Leilani Lee-Yates, NPCA CAO. “Your commitment to conservation, education, and community engagement is the driving force behind our success. Your passion for what’s in your backyard is the heart of our community.”

As NPCA looks ahead, it remains committed to working alongside volunteers, partners, and supporters to enhance the natural environment and preserve the watershed’s heritage. Together, the organization and its volunteers continue to advance a shared vision of a healthy, resilient watershed for all.
