The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is pleased to welcome Ms. Chandra Sharma to the position of Chief Administrative Office/Secretary-Treasurer. After an extensive search, the Board of Directors selected Ms. Sharma for the position, and she will commence on January 1, 2020.
“Our new CAO brings to the role more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, governance, operations, and program development,” says NPCA Board Chair, Dave Bylsma. “We are excited to have her join the amazing team we already have in place and continuing to move the NPCA forward.”
Ms. Sharma began her career at Toronto & Region Conservation Authority as a Stewardship Coordinator and quickly moved through progressively more senior roles as Project Manager of the Humber River Watershed, Watershed Specialist and Senior Manager of Climate Programs. Most recently, she has held the roles of Director, Watershed Strategies and Director, Community Engagement and Outreach, where she provided strategy and policy leadership, developed an employee recognition program, developed and operationalized TRCA’s first engagement strategy and led the government and community relations activities.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Geography, a Master of Philosophy in International Relations, a Master’s in Environmental Studies and Planning from York University as well as a Public Management Certificate from the Schulich School of Business, Ms. Sharma brings a wealth of knowledge through her experience and education.
“Ms. Sharma has been described as a leader that effectively empowers her team, engages with stakeholders, is inspirational and provides thoughtful, thorough decision-making,” adds current NPCA CAO, Gayle Wood. “I’m confident this was the right decisions and that the NPCA is being left in excellent hands.”
As the Board of Directors has now completed this task, it is important to thank those on the selection committee and chair Bill Steele for their commitment to this important service to the organization.
