Public Notice Regarding Falsified Information

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) would like to advise the public that it has received multiple complaints from residents, stating that there are individuals posing as “conservation” staff members, during phone calls and home visits.

Further to these incidents, there have also been a series of falsified email correspondence throughout the last few months, that have gone out to NPCA staff members and Board of Directors, as well as elected officials from Haldimand, Hamilton, and Niagara.

Upon receiving these complaints, the NPCA has engaged the Niagara Regional Police to begin an investigation into these matters.

Please be advised that any information sent on behalf of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority will always come from an NPCA email address (@npca.ca), be posted on NPCA website, or through NPCA social media channels. These falsified emails do not originate from the NPCA servers or networks.

Staff members who provide site visits or attend community events on behalf of the organization, will always have proper identification and we encourage the public to ask to see these when in doubt.

Anyone experiencing similar incidents, who wish to provide us with information, can contact info@npca.ca or 905-788-3135.
