Conservation Area Facilities Closed to the Public

Conservation Area Facilities Closed to the Public

Earlier today, NPCA management consulted with Niagara Region Public Health regarding conservation area services and programming in relation to COVID-19 following the issuance of new provincial recommendations. While Niagara Public Health indicates the risk of contracting COVID-19 is currently low for Niagara residents, due to additional precautions and recommendations from the province, the NPCA has made the decision to cancel all programs, services, and facilities based out of our Conservation Areas.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Alicia Powell, Manager of Conservation Area Services at apowell@npca.ca or 905-562-5235 ext. 26.

Ball’s Falls Conservation Area: At this time, the Centre for Conservation at Ball’s Falls, and all venues and facilities on-site will be closed to the public. Hiking trails are still accessible for visitors to enjoy.

Other NPCA Conservation Areas / Passive Parks

As of Saturday, March 14, all NPCA conservation areas will be accessible for passive recreation only, such as hiking, and bird-watching. All on-site facilities (including washroom buildings, visitor centres, gatehouses, etc.) will be closed.

These conservation areas remain accessible to the public as the NPCA believes that access to nature and greenspace is important for community health and wellbeing, and this is an important service that we offer within the community.

The NPCA is continually monitoring this public health situation and will undertake the recommendations of public health officials and our conservation partners, as well as assess our own capabilities from a risk management and customer service standpoint.
