NPCA’s work supports the conservation, enhancement, and sustainability of healthy watersheds with programs and services that focus on drinking water source protection, flood and hazard management, endangered species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, education, and land management.

NPCA is the caretaker of 43 conservation areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture, and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

The Opportunity
The Manager of Digital Transformation & IT is responsible for taking the lead role in the strategic direction for the corporation’s application of technology and information architecture. Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of key business systems, implementation and support of infrastructure, oversight of GIS solutions, and the development and provision of data and associated access services that support the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, the incumbent will also provide corporate information management (IM) leadership in the identification of opportunities and advice in applying technology to improve operational processes, achieve business goals, and improve service delivery.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing leadership and strategic planning regarding the use of spatial data
  • Leading the development and implementation of a corporate digital strategy
  • Responsible for the overall design and development of GIS and data management applications as well as facilitating sharing and usage of up-to-date GIS and database information across the organization
  • Managing the IT infrastructure including computers, network, server network, digital phone system and related peripherals
  • Developing and maintaining an IT risk management and disaster recovery strategy
  • Overseeing the management enterprise software application development
  • Identifying mobile solutions and managing and administering the corporate mobile device program and policy
  • Providing technical leadership and implementing policies, procures and best practices regarding access, use, and maintenance of IT and GIS infrastructure

What You Bring

  • Degree from a recognized University in Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Certified Information Professional (CIP) designation a strong asset
  • Five years combined experience with technology infrastructure and GIS systems
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Experience with ArcGIS and a sound understanding of information management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of IM solutions including GIS systems, CRM, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
  • Strong attention to detail and technical, analytical and research skills
