NPCA’s work supports the conservation, enhancement, and sustainability of healthy watersheds with programs and services that focus on drinking water source protection, flood and hazard management, endangered species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, education, and land management.
NPCA is the caretaker of 41 conservation areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture, and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.
The Opportunity
As a community-based natural resource management agency, the NPCA not only is committed to furthering the conservation, restoration, development, and management of natural resources in the Niagara Peninsula watershed, but also to striving for Organizational Excellence. The H&S/HR Administrator will provide leadership and direction regarding health and safety and corporate wellness programs. The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to contributing towards a positive work culture focusing on staff wellness as well as participating in the recruitment process, employee onboarding program and benefits administration. With a desire to help our talented staff be the best they can be with the right resources in place, this role will focus on ensuring our team has the tools and knowledge to fulfil our mandate and goals of our strategic plan safely and successfully.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and implementing policies, programs, and practices to develop a strong foundation to support a culture committed to employee safety at all work locations
- Developing and implementing a corporate wellness program to encourage a healthy workplace
- Providing advice on interpretation and administration of policies, employment legislation and the collective agreement
- Leading the seasonal recruitment program and assisting with training as required
- Administering OMERS and the group benefit plan, including enrollment, changes, and employee communication
- Assisting in the administration of employee onboarding, performance management and pay administration
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management with a focus on Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
- Three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources and/or Health and Safety
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A positive and professional demeanor, with a passion for supporting and enabling a team of high performers
