Park Maintenance Representative (Equipment Operator)

NPCA is the caretaker of 43 conservation areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture, and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.
The Opportunity
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Land Care, the seasonal Park Maintenance Representative (Equipment Operator) will support safe, efficient operation, transportation and routine maintenance for tractors and mid-level machinery (i.e. tractor with rotary cutter, deck mower, rototiller) to support a variety of NPCA ecological restoration and tree planting projects. The safety-conscious role focuses on supporting the assigned project team through equipment operation, equipment care, and project-specific operations (e.g., site preparation) through skilled use of equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Selecting, setting up, and safely operating a range of mid-level machinery, equipment attachments, and implements to support site preparation and ecological restoration activities. This may include mowing, bushhogging, grading, rototilling, material handling equipment, trailers, and related tools as well as adjusting equipment configurations to suit site conditions and task requirements.
- Transporting project specific equipment, attachments, and materials between sites using trailers and appropriate hauling equipment, ensuring loads are secured, moved, and staged safely in compliance with transportation regulations, site access requirements, and operational schedules.
- Conducting daily inspections and routine maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Following all safe operating procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and NPCA safety policies
What you Bring
- Diploma in equipment operation, skilled trade or a related field preferred
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the operation of tractors, or similar mid-level machinery
- Experience performing routine equipment inspections and maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to safety operation machinery in outdoor and public environments
- Excellent customer service and time management skills
- Valid ‘G’ class license

Home Base Location: Check in at Gainsborough Conservation Area (3541 RR 20, Fenwick) with travel within the watershed to assigned project sites
