NPCA Seeks Community Input on Plans for Beamer Memorial Conservation Area

Grimsby, ON — The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is inviting community members to take part in the next round of public engagement for the Beamer Memorial Conservation Area Management Plan, continuing a collaborative process to shape the future of one of Grimsby’s most valued natural spaces.

In the Fall of 2025, NPCA launched initial engagements to better understand how the community uses and experiences Beamer Memorial Conservation Area and what they value most about it. Through surveys, a community open house, an online project page, and meetings with many key partners, more than 850 community contributions were shared.

Community input highlighted five key themes that will guide the concept area designs:

  • Improved trails and amenities
  • Visitor management and parking
  • Education and community engagement
  • Protection of natural heritage
  • Support for passive recreation

“These conversations have helped us better understand what Beamer Memorial Conservation Area means to the community,” said Eric Baldin, Manager of Conservation Area Land Planning. “We’ve identified four areas at Beamer where enhancements are needed and are seeking community feedback and ideas to help shape improvements in each area.”

Community feedback closely aligns with NPCA’s Strategic Plan and Conservation Area Strategy, reinforcing priorities such as biodiversity, climate resilience, safe and accessible recreation, and learning opportunities that connect people with nature.

As part of this next  phase of engagement, NPCA is sharing four concept areas for discussion at Beamer Memorial Conservation Area based on previous public input and key themes that emerged in the first engagement session. Community members are encouraged to review the concept area maps, share ideas, and provide feedback on the potential enhancements. Input received during this phase will help inform concept designs that will be developed  later in 2026 and presented to the public for further review.

Input received during this phase will help shape a long-term vision that balances environmental protection with responsible, low-impact enjoyment of Beamer Memorial Conservation Area.
