Hunting Permit Application

CONTROLLED WATERFOWL Hunting PROGRAM

Migratory waterfowl hunting is permitted at Binbrook Conservation Area and Mud Lake Conservation Area only.

Migratory waterfowl season for NPCA district begins Saturday, September 28, 2024.

A waterfowl hunting blind lottery is in place for the first two weeks of the hunting season, and for Binbrook Blind #5 (island) for each week of the season.

Hunters interested in hunting during the first two weeks of the season must enter the Lottery by September 2, 2024.

All successful applicants will be notified by email during the month of September.

BINBROOK HUNTING BLIND RESERVATIONS

Advanced reservations are required to hunt at Binbrook. Waterfowl hunting blinds are reservable for Saturday mornings from sunrise to 12 p.m. from October 12 – December 7.

Beginning Saturday, October 12, hunting blinds at Mud Lake are first come, first served.

Reservations will open online on September 16, 2024 at the link below.

HUNTING PERMIT

The application below must be completed to obtain a permit to hunt in the identified Conservation Areas of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. It is valid for the calendar year of the approved application.

Hunters must have all appropriate and valid hunting licences and permits (Federal, Provincial and municipal). Your Outdoors Card MUST be valid until December 31st of the year you are applying for. If it is not, you will not be able to complete this form.

All hunters must submit a Harvest Report Form for the previous NPCA permitted year (unless this is your first year applying for a permit). If you have not yet done so, you can provide the information in this application.

For 2024 a $47.75 permit fee applies.

Fishing and Hunting Licenses are Required

An NPCA permit is required to hunt on all designated NPCA lands. Please complete the online application below, or call 905-788-3135 ext. 330 (Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).

  • All federal and provincial hunting regulations, seasonal restrictions, and conservation area rules must be followed.
  • Permit to hunt waterfowl at Binbrook Conservation Area is obtained at the site through daily hunting blind fee.
  • All hunters must have valid hunting licences and an NPCA hunting permit in their possession.
  • When parking on NPCA properties, and NPCA Hunting Dash Permit must also be visible on vehicle.

Highlights for the 2024 season

  • Valid 2024 NPCA Hunting Permit Required and must be carried at all times while hunting.
  • Hunting permitted on Saturday mornings beginning ½ hour before sunrise and ends 12:00pm noon at Binbrook Conservation Area. Check-in is between 5am and 6am each Saturday at Binbrook; hunters arriving past 6am will not be admitted.
  • Hunting permitted on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays only at Mud Lake Conservation Area.
  • Nine designated Hunting Blinds at Binbrook Conservation Area.
  • Hunting time ½ hour after sunrise to ½ hour before sunset at Mud Lake Conservation Area.

Please Note the Conservation Area Policies

  • Portable deer hunting stands permitted only. No spikes, nails or other material which damage trees
  • No cutting, destruction, and/or removal of vegetation in Conservation Areas
  • No ATV or recreational vehicles permitted within a Conservation Area
  • Boats with electric motors or paddle only on Conservation Area waters
  • No fires permitted. NOTE no smoking or open flame at theWainfleet Bog Conservation Area due to extreme fire hazards
  • Retrieval dogs off leash for waterfowl hunting only. Other use of hunting dogs permitted on leash, to prevent disturbance of other animals and hunters
  • No target/ range shooting in Conservation Areas (including sighting-in, clay throwing and plinking)
  • No coyote hunting permitted.
