AT-HOME LEARNING RESOURCES FOR PARENTS & EDUCATORS

For many students, annual field trips to places such as Ball’s Falls are one of the most exciting events of the school year. But due to COVID-19, the NPCA is unable to host school groups and other group visitors at this time.

Despite this adversity, NPCA educators are now bringing some of the fun of outdoor learning home to students and teachers who missed their visit this year – and to everyone learning at home.

If you are a teacher who is looking to add an experiential learning activity to your virtual classroom, or a parent who needs help making at-home learning fun, the resources below are designed for you!

At the NPCA, all education programs are designed to include both outdoor experiential learning and curriculum links. The goal of educational programming at the NPCA is to bring the classroom outdoors, and experience science, history, arts, mathematics and phys ed in a natural setting, where students can apply their knowledge, build important skills and make memories that they won’t soon forget.

These at-home learning resources were created and developed by NPCA Program Assistant, Jenna Moorhead, who is an OCT certified teacher with a background in geography, environmental science and outdoor education and has taught almost every subject to all ages and grade levels. NPCA’s at-home resources follow the same model of design. See how these activities are connected to Ontario curriculum expectations by clicking HERE.

If you are an educator or parent who is struggling to find resources or activities for your classrooms or families, please connect with us! Send an email to programming@npca.ca and we are here to help through this time. We hope you enjoy your outdoor learning and we wish you wellness in the weeks ahead!
